The Sports Career Question on the Show: What three tips would you give to university students who wants to pursue a career in coaching?
Tim's Answer: Yeah, it's it's a good question. And I'm kind of kind of give you a non answer. Because I think there's there's almost too much advice for graduates now, which wasn't around when I graduated. My piece of advice for graduates, now is is to steer your own ship, be humble and learn and listen to people, because that's an absolutely integral part of developing as a person, but you're going to be employed interview guided by a whole load of different people in your career, all of whom are gonna have their own agendas and their own ideas about what's right and wrong. But the truth is, you got to be you. And I think it's a bit of a worrying trend now that we see an industry that we see graduates coming out who are just these kind of smorgasbord of whatever the latest Guru has told them to be how to act, or what to say, or courses to do. In my experience, interviewing them is unbelievably boring. So my piece of advice is to steer and ship and give the industry you take your own path. And really don't worry too much about being the perfect candidate according to someone else. You and your personality, your way of doing things is is unique by its nature, so don't lose it. You got to embrace it and develop it, build it, improve it, but but really don't lose it. Because if you can be the best version of yourself, you're going to find your niche, and you're going to find your role in sport, or you won't, and you'll do something else and the world will keep on spinning. My piece of advice would be to steer and ship.
