This podcast which is a solo episode.
Last week I had a client call and the first thing my client said "Ed before we start our call I want to say 3 things to you, I want to say thank you for your:
1.Kindness
2. Personality
3. Honesty
Honestly, I was speechless , and I am a person who find it hard to accept 'praise' because I thrive to try and get better. But this was different because the three things the client said related to my Personal Principle Declaration which is an exercise I did from a book called School of Greatness which is a self-development book written by Lewis Howes.
According to Lewis Howes from his book School of Greatness your Personal Principles Declaration is:
Is a vision exercise is the statement of who you will be and what you will stand for in your life, even in the toughest moments. You are declaring to yourself to your world with 5 principles is what you stand for and live by, no matter what comes your way.
So this quote above is from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey explaining what Principles are relating to human behaviour and attitude.
In this podcast I share how creating my own Personal Persona Declaration has influenced my sports career development.
Here is my Personal Principles Declaration:
1. Always Smile & Be Confident
2. Be honest and tell the 'Real' Truth
3.Always give your BEST to help others.
4.No matter what, be proud of your achievements.
5.Be inspired by the people around.
6.Always be grateful, there is always somebody behind you who is worse off!
How to create your 'Personal Principles Declaration' Exercise:
Step 1: grab a pen & paper
Step 2: One onside paper put: Who is ...Your Name....
Step 3: Flip the paper and write 5 Principles you want to apply to be YOUR 5 Personal Principles Declaration. (Remember from Lewis your 5 principles is what you stand for and live by, no matter what comes your way)
Then you are done!
Keep this piece of paper with you and when you are having a good or bad day and come back to this piece of paper as a reminder of who you are and how you want to known in the sports industry!
